At Press Conference for Cindy Shermans new show

Cecilie Mossige May 02 2013

At Oslos newest museum, the Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art, one of the biggest art stars ever is showing her works. Cindy Sherman has by far been my biggest inspiration as an artist, and it was huge to be able to go to the press conference and actually look at her speak. She has a beauty and grace, and almost transparent presence,  totally different from how she appears in her pictures. It became even more clear how she transforms herself in her work, and turns into the person she depicts. Magical.

As for notes, I took none. The press conference was short and effective, and I used my time sketching my heroine. On the sketch to the left, I have concentrated on her bone structure. At least, that is something we all have in common - our mortality and degradable bodies. Some however, will be remembered way past their bodies due date.

Pearl Face

CM, February 2013

Experimenting with assemblage/ collage/ textile. On this older fashion photo, the models face are gradually covered by flesh tone glass pearls.

SImultaneously, I'm writing an article about a Norwegian artist - Hanne Lydia Opøien Kristoffersen - whose self portraits all have hidden faces.

Check out her works - click button below. And think about the ways we all wear masks.

Droplet nerd

CM, December 2012

Totally into running water. Manipulating the paper in different ways to disrupt the droplets path. Feels like I'll never get tired of doing this. Ever.
